Passive Voice

Türkçeden de bildiğimiz gibi EDİLGEN YAPIdır. Yani işi yapandan çok yapılan işin önemli olduğu durumlarda kullanılır.

They produce these cars in Izmit

(Onlar Izmitte bu arabaları üretirler)

Demek yerine

These cars are produced in Izmıt

(bu arabalar İzmitte üretilir)

Demeyi tercih ederiz.

Yani “active” cümledeki nesneyi alıyoruz.

“passive” cümlenin en başına yani özne konumuna getiriyoruz.

Sonra öznenin durumuna göre “am-is-are” ekleyip

“active” cümledeki fiilin de “3. Halini” yazıyoruz

Ve böylece passive cümle yapmış oluyoruz.

ACTIVE: Özne + fiil + nesne

İken

PASSIVE: nesne + am/is/are + V3

Oluyor.

Ex:

They collect a lot of money for charity

A lot of money is collected for charity

EX:

1)      What food / France / know / for    

                What food is France known for?

2)      Where / these bags / produce

Where are these bags produced?

3)      Skyscrapers / build / a famous building company

Skyscrapers are built by a famous building company

4)      Delicious food / cook / this restaurant

Delicious food is cooked in this restaurant

5)      People / make / beautiful clothes / this shop

Beautiful clothes are made in this shop.



PASSIVE VOICE in the PAST (Geçmiş Zamanda Passive)

Tıpkı geniş zaman gibi geçmiş zamanda da format aynıdır. Ama bu sefer özneye göre "am/is/are" yazmak yerine "was/were"
yazıyoruz.

EX:

This book was written by Tolstoy.

The thieves were caught by the police.
